Sending out a heartfelt wish for a Happy New Year to everyone here.
The weather here in NE Ohio is currently freezing; the wind, cold, and snow have fully embraced us. It’s a sharp contrast to Perth, where I last checked and saw temps in the 90s (that’s the 30s for you, Mick!).
Writing that reminds me why I love this place. Even when this board goes days or weeks with nary a peep, I still feel a deep connection to this community. I’m incredibly grateful for that.
Skimming through the posts from the past year, a few things caught my eye: • Peter T.: What was your favorite concert or show of 2025? • Reg: Hope you’re getting close to 100% health-wise. • Dslacker & brentlind: What was your "Album of the Year" for 2025? • MJG: Please tell me you’re not a Browns fan... • Andi: Have you finally had MTG over for dinner? • Kevin G: Are you finally riding an e-bike yet? • big@l, edlorah, & cassandra: It was great to see you all check in recently. • Willis: Thinking of you—I know you might only be getting 20 minutes of sunlight these days. • AutoJack88: Welcome! I hope you decide to stick around. • Kathryn: How many grandkids is the total up to now? • EEE: hoping we haven't heard the last of him. Seriously. • PatBrown: Can you believe Pat even posted in 2025? Mick, I’m still contemplating our talks in Dublin and at Dzogchen Beara and my place on the wheel. And David—I am about two-thirds of the way through The Fire Agent. It is captivating and cinematic in scope. Your voice is unmistakable in the prose; it's easy to see how personal this was for you. I even caught a stray AFM lyric in there: "The world is mad, and mankind bad." It is a fantastic book and you should be proud for giving this gift to your family past, present and future.
And that’s that. Just some thoughts at the end of 2025. I’ll leave you with a track from the brilliant UK songwriter Emma-Lee Moss (Emmy the Great) who also has a book coming out in June! It feels fitting for the moment.
