While I was in the hospital Julia offered to bring me my laptop so I could read, write, and wander around that big world wide web. I chose not to do so because I was kind of depressed while I was in there. I had this beautiful private room on the top floor with a view, a huge TV (on which there was basically nothing I wanted to watch) and everything in the room was new. It was basically like a hotel room. The level of care I got was truly exceptional. I am in Massachusetts though and we are known for our hospitals. Still, not my intent to spend that much time in one. I had a massive number of doctors and they were all stopping by to chat with me. I also had some amazing nurses. Interestingly, we chatted a lot and not all just about my situation. We talked about the country, where it was headed, and how we felt about it. I was a bit cautious about this at first because I really did not want to discover that a doctor or nurse that was tending to me found my views reprehensible...thankfully they all shared my thoughts and seemed to stop in more often just to talk.

I had so much attention, I could not say I was ever lonely. Plus Julia came by daily to see me and a friend stopped in to visit me. When I put the TV on it was primarily on CNN which was kind of surreal. I did watch a marathon of Dirty Harry movies as well, which somehow flowed perfectly with what I was seeing on CNN.

Mostly, I turned it off and read a couple of books. Things that would help keep my mind off of current events. I just thought, I'm in the hospital, not feeling great, no need to bury myself in the weird and vile stuff our current administration is up to. That just seemed like piling on.

it is good to chat with people, particularly people that understand we are heading in the wrong direction. So, what was kind of nice was while I was not here, I did have a group of doctors and nurses to talk to that not only were working to improve my health but also made me feel good in the sense of having some intelligent and kind people to commiserate with. No Trump fans in the lot of them.
