I just remembered something DB said at the Boston show. He said "This song was the only song I've ever written for money. I got $50,000." I don't remember if he said this backstage or just before he played it for an encore.

If that's the case, KG had passed away long before the producers of MR approached DB with their $50k check looking for a song for their movie.
