: Quite a while back I picked up a Boot of the Last Waltz at a local music store. It's a 4 Cd set by, "Cool Daddy Productions" numbered 80 of 3000. Called "The Complete Last Waltz" It says its the complete 4 hr. concert the way it was originally performed. It says that the offical release was edited with some songs rerecorded in the studio. Anybody heard of this disc?

Haven't heard of the boot here in Vancouver, but your point of the original "Last Waltz" recording being edited is true . I've read various reasons from some artists, including members of The Band being so "coked up" or too drunk to perform.I've also heard that Levon Helm (The Band's drummer,and vocalist)was so pissed off at Robbie Robertson (The Band's primary song writer and guitarist)acting like "some damn movie star" that the other members coaxed back into the fray. If any of you want a good read about "The Band" I highly reccommend Helm's autobiography "This Wheel's On Fire"
