: "GOD ain't in his heaven,
: something ain't right . . ."
: In my life, David + David entered in the late fall of 1986. My best friend brought over this funky and hip vinyl LP that he told me that "I just had to hear!" From the opening feedback guitar riff of the opening track, and all the way through the second side of that LP--- my life was changed that day.
: I immediately jumped into my car, and headed down to the 'wrecka stow to pick up a copy for my very own. I was transfixed, to say the least. Today, BOOMTOWN remains my favorite album from the 1980's. It was a time when I started out working as an investment banker, and later would leave to start my own business, which I was successful at, until the day I walked away--- opting to become unemployed instead of becoming dishonest.
: Thank you David, for your sense of morality and fortitude.
: The most stirring part of the whole affair was the song BEING ALONE TOGETHER.
: One night, one of my friends who had not heard the album had said to me in a conversation we were having about the possibility of me breaking up with my girlfriend of the time. She said to me; "If you break up with her, you're better off that way--- your future is all that matters."
: Well, it was exactly those words that would strike a deep chord in my heart and soul the very next night, when my girlfriend Kim and I were listening to my favorite album at the time--- BOOMTOWN.
: The song came on, and it hit me hard when David sang these words:
: "And my little sister told me,
: She said I'm better off this way
: She said my future's all that matters,
: And if I'm just a little bit tattered
: Still I'm better off . . ."
: We had just finished making love, and were sharing a smoke of herb, when those words came through the speakers and into the room. I knew right then what I had to do. I told her right then, that I could not be with her any longer.
: She cried, and I held her while I said goodbye.
: "No, this can't go on forever . . ."
: I made up my mind to make the break, and it all worked out for the best.
: I would in less than a year and a half later, meet the woman who ended up my wife.
: Thank you David, for your gut-wrenching honesty and raw, balls-to-the-wall emotion in your music.
: It is the BOOMTOWN record that literally changed my life--- today, I am lucky enough to have a framed copy of that same LP on my office wall--- signed by the two men that showed me honesty and brought the love of my life into my life.
