: Paddy Chayefsky was a man. So I believe you meant who was he. He was a writer probably best known for writing "Network" for which he won an Academy award for the screenplay. He also wrote a variety of other things as well. He wrote "The Hospital" and "Altered States" which you can also find at your local video store I'm sure. I think if you watch those three films you'd get a pretty good idea what sort of writer he was. I'm not sure if David has a favorite piece of work by Mr. Chayefsky but he did make mention some time back, I believe, of an evening spent playing pool with the man that seemed to have left him with some lasting impression. There's a start for you anyway.
