I think I can, yes. In as far as Mr Baerwald *may* want to disown and/or slap around (!) the fans of his who take my line, there's no reason why he shouldn't take my `interest` in the best way. Even though he has a defined `political line` his music has enough depth to bring people like myself to appreciate it. I agree with some things he's said...would like his opinion regarding other things, but all that aside he's a good musician and writer. There was a Scottish writer who said "let me write the songs of a nation - I don't care who writes the laws"

The writer, Malcolm Muggeridge, spent time in Moscow back in the mid-60's and he wrote to his left-leaning friends in London that the thing that the Russians had going on was seriously *overrated*. Back in London they had a similar left-leaning love-fest that I've seen to be manifest in certain artsy types of America (from Arthur Miller to Bruce Cockburn) and even though there is a lot to be taken from that school of thought, it doesn't tell the whole story when it comes to living a totally secure forward moving life. (Meaning, the cradle of free thought has been capitalistic America...if we were in Chile, Saudi Arabia or Russia and you wanted to publicly question the government and/or the state religion then kiss your time on earth goodbye)

You've spotted my agenda for the umpteenth time, so I'm trying to bring together the best of David's thoughts combined with the best of mine. Hopefully we can loose the idealism and extremism from the left and right along the way. There's an old saying that goes if you want to turn your child into a communist, you should send him to the left-bank of Paris for a year. If you want to turn your child away from Communism send him to Moscow or Havana...

Enough said...
Richard

PS:- Are you saying by association that because I'm a married man and an outright heterosexual that I couldn't possibly appreciate the music of Lou Reed's from the 70's? Why would a married man listen to the (sometime) sexually ambiguos rantings of Lou Reed?
PPS: - Why don't you sign your name to your postings? Are you Sheryl Crow?
