I had a wonderful teacher once by the name of Stan Ayeroff who had a quiet and witty way about him. I pestered him forever with my obsession with suburban blues licks, until one day I was trying to put suburban blues licks into a very un-bluesy brazilian sort of jobim-ish type of thing and he just stopped me and said "if all you have is a hammer, soon everything starts to look like a nail. " I think its time we play with our drills for awhile, don't you? I promise I won't show you the vacuum at the heart of my being if you promise not to show me yours.
