>>do you really think that Jesse Jackson is any help to >>forwarding the cause of democrats?
So why then is he roaming the streets making himself look a fool for the benefit of Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity - if you mind me asking such a personal question - why don't you involve yourself more in the public political arena if you have such a passion for it?
As much as I appreciate the fact that we are able to communicate through this medium, surely the producers of The O'Reilly Factor/Hannity and Colmes/Larry King Live
/Politically Incorrect etc would appreciate if someone like you would be willing to go head to head with Messers Goldberg, O'Rourke or Drudge than having to rely on half assed soundbites from the Alec Baldwin or Rosie O'Donnell (I make *no* comparison!)
Now whatever you might think of the politics of O'Rourke, at least he makes a half decent crack at presenting a certain kind of ideology. A guy doesn't need a PhD in political science to figure out where you're coming from, so you could start dispelling the myths that the `right leaning` media might pass out about those who would ascribe to a different `world-view`.
>>On another note...there was much talk that because GWB >>didn't back down over FLA he "robbed and disenfranchised" >>the "majority" of voters.
Like I said, each side has enough hanging over the other. I can't deny what you have stated...but then the Democrats are in no position to shrug off some of the accusations that `besmirched` their campaign. (see my previous posting) As you probably know, the Republicans had a `scorched earth` scenario if the Democrats had of pulled the count off based on the reasons you assert. They *could* have pulled out all the stops to investigate the wheelings and dealings in other states that started coming to light a few weeks into the count recount and recount. Could the country handle that much truth?
Now if we all teamed together as anti-partisan crusaders for truth (following the money...as you say) we can dig up all the dirt to keep this forum buzzing for a good few decades but at what cost? When an election spins off so far to the point of President Castro and President Putin offering `assistants` to come to Florida to help them finish the job, IMHO that's a pretty good cue to either a) start the revolution ourselves or b) nail down the hatches and team together. Though with that said, if an outside assistant was actually needed, I'd have put my money on bringing in Chris Pattern from the UK. If he can deal with the handover of Hong Kong back to China and also deal with constructing a report for the reformation of policing in Northern Ireland - then he and his `crew` could have nailed FLA down within a few weeks =o)
>>Beware ideologues. They're merely there to distract you. >>Follow the money, and the truth shall be revealed.
So on a racier political topic (and another arguably personal comment) do you forsee an audit being made on you for each/every year that GWB is in the Whitehouse? In as far as I'm fastening my seatbelt for 4 years worth of a political corkscrew ride...we'll have to give Clinton his due for not indulging in `Mafia-style` leading, but isn't it quirky the way he employed a certain `bully boy` style of management. Isn't it also really, really strange that as soon as Bill O'Reilly, Mancow Muller, Matt Drudge, Sean Hannity and the NRO started dissenting they were all audited a few years on the trot?
Another (unrelated) observation I made is that the reason why right-wing talk-radio celebs are so popular is because they actually speak their mind. (Limbaugh and Hannity, please step forward) The reason why there was friction between opposing `celebrities` is because the left-wing talkers are non-judgemental 95% of the time. (Clinton should be left alone, isn't the country in great shape) The other 5% of the time is spent judging the likes of Limbaugh and Hanitty. The TV bods will allow time to be spent talking about how GWB might be dyslexic, Ashcroft is a throwback to the Reich (regardless of his record) and Katherine Harris has extreme make-up jobs. If the networks could be convinced to let you go head to head with PJ O'Rourke, then we'd have some serious news-worthy items.
Maybe this is proof that the media isn't so liberal after all! Why don't we put the ever-excitable Deadra Levine up against David Horowitz (he'll ramble some worryingly right wing views - she'll get shrill)! Whatever happens keep Cockburn and Baerwald on the sidelines, if either of them went up against Horowitz - we might have to start dealing with facts.
>>Fear and greed are great levellers.
>>Yrs in the spirit of the new decade,
>>David Baerwald
Onwards and upwards...as Cockburn said "times goes fast, learning goes slow"
Respectfully...
