Dear David,
i know that Dan did not create this message board to be a discussion list, but your offer to answer questions is
too tempting. So Dan, i apologize if i am misusing your board.
first off, thanks for answering so honestly my post about Sheryl Crow. it is easier to let someone else take the
blame, but you confessed to wrongdoing on your own part... a quality to be admired. glad there is no outright
feud still going on there.
my new question has to do with the song "Good Times." i think it is one of the best songs you've ever done. it
would definitely be on my "If My Life Were A Movie" soundtrack. the thing is, for the life of me i can't figure out
if the song is serious or sarcastic. i can see it being sung from the point of view of one who thinks life has
genuinely good moments, despite all the pain and betrayal... or i could see it as one who has lost hope and is
trying to convince himself that things are not so bad by saying "these MUST be good times," trying to deny the
bitter truth.
maybe it is meant to be both. or, maybe the answer is very obvious and i am just oblivious to it. i would very much like to know what you were thinking when you recorded it.
thanks, and keep clawing the walls...
