Harris lost because America is lost. America is lost because it embraced the lie that "the business of America is business." The business of the America I once thought I lived in is not business. The business of America is stated in the first sentence of the Preamble to the Constitution; it is:
"to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity."
It does not say:
"Deregulate banking for the sole advantage of the super-rich, destroy the educational system and middle class, and celebrate traitors, rapists, and thieves, because truth is a fiction, decency is for suckers and losers, and every man for himself"
We have never lived up to this ideal. We made movies and tv shows pretending that we did, though, at least enough to convince a majority. Think tanks and pundits and our educational system played along. The Navajo were the bad guys! Slaves were happy about being slaves, they learned valuable skills!
We allowed religious activists to sabotage our schools, and bombarded our children with their lies. We allowed capital to fester, to feed only the super-rich, and capital does what capital does. It attracts more capital, until ultimately it all ends up in the same hands, and with that capital, all the power.
We put oil and coal lobbyists in charge of our environment, constantly betrayed our own principles every step of the way. We became lost. We allowed the lies to become accepted as "common sense." We allowed the lie to become perpetrated and accepted that "America was founded as a Christian Nation." It was not.
And this was because of DEI? Are you sure it isn't CRT, or female M&Ms, or a war on Christmas? Or Obama's tan suit, or Michelle Obama is secretly a man? Or "they're eating the dogs?"
