Keerist!  Scorcese did a piece on the blues?  There's a set?  Can't believe I missed it!  I'll have to look up what's on it and when it airs again..I've been waiting for the price on the 12 disc set of the 'complete' Stax/Volt recordings to come down- it's still running around $100 even at half.com....

1) Piracy - well,  I don't have a great deal of sympathy for the industry that's been ripping us off $10 or so for 10 years or more everytime, each and everyone of us  - the price should've dropped at some point.  I'm especially ambivalent about the companies (i.e. Sony) who also sell the splendid hardware one uses to rip off the label's own artists.  I don't own a burner, but at $50, I may get one -perhaps the dvd combo...

2) New music - thank GOD I'm not 18 anymore.  I think my opinion of what's  BEST has changed a little.  What's out there is no less valid to an 18 year old than it would be to me if I were in their shoes,  I suppose.  But, as someone said, there's a LOT out there and the sifting is certainly a process...and since I never had to do that so much before, it seems a little needless...it's like the process (artistic achievement) so many of us grew up with is in polar reverse - artists used to be presented and now there are so many artists that you have to find the one you like.  From what I can tell, single oriented radio is partially to blame for this.  The industry seems like a 'hit' squad...bet it's lucrative....if soulless and empty - I guess it might get you a nice house.

On a personal note - I'll never be bored with good music anymore than I'll be bored with good literature or good women and certainly not in that order.  That said, I've still got lots to learn about all the aforementioned.......

p.s. - Triple E - I loved the story you shared about your child and your job - you MUST have a funny cop story or seven or more sitting around - please share them!!!
