Icon Re: State of CD sales....

The reason I don't buy nearly as many cds/albums as I used to is I simply do not like what I'm hearing. Maybe my generation (I'm 43) were more creative. Maybe they were better musicians and songwriters. They wrote music that came from their heart and their soul. It was fueled by emotion rather than money. Who the hell knows, maybe just I'm waaaaay too picky.

Most of the music I hear today (when I'm not listenening to cd's) is terrible. The musicianship is gone, the vocals are out of tune and abrasive and the lyrics as asinine at worst and pedestrian at best. And Christ all mighty, what happened to originality? What happened to melody???

But maybe my wife summed it up best when I went into a profanity laced diatribe about the pathetic state today's music is in;

"Honey, you're just getting old."

(sigh)
