I loved both Jim Croce and Tom Chapin. Croce died when I was in Jr. High and I remember being so sad about that.

Then when I was in college in Savannah in October '79, I was Vice Chair of the Union Board and for some reason I was in charge of the dressing room for Tom and Harry Chapin. I didn't usually have that job so who knows why I did that time. I got the dressing room ready and don't ask me why, but I had hot rollers in my hair, so when I went out to put stuff in my car I ran right into Tom and Harry Chapin. They asked for directions and I told them that they were in luck because I was their guide for the evening! Then Harry or Tom said something about liking my new hair style (while I just wanted to disappear through a crack in the road with my hot rollers and all).

Anyway I took them to their dressing room and Tom was really nice and cool and Harry was a little NOT as nice and cool and he went to go take a shower (as I'm trying to like get OUT of the dressing room). Tom apologized to me for Harry being in a bad mood and talked to me for a while. The show was amazing though so it was all good. I googled the name of my college newspaper along with "Harry Chapin" and the issue with their show came up. It was evidently a last minute show(which I remembered after I read that) that was a fundraiser for Harry's hunger charity so that's why they were both there and there was no band with them.

It was a really once in a lifetime experience and then surreal when not long after that Harry was gone. Anyway Reg and EEE thanks for bringing up that fun memory for me.
