If one is truly a fan and understands the concepts of independent film, then this is an excellent one.
And this goes for those who often describe films like these as a "slice of life."
Yes, it deals with tough and bleak subject matters, but it is like being forced to walk through hell to get to the glory.
Not only that, if one is familiar with both Clayne Crawford (I know of him from Rectify) and Chris Coy (I know of him from HBO's Treme and The Deuce) and their previous roles, then I think the viewer is going to be very pleasantly surprised.
There is one scene and its immediate aftermath that is going to stick with me for some time because of how realistic it was - it was really done in such a way that is rarely depicted in other movies and television.
