You know Mick, you should watch the film "Bowling For Columbine" if you'd like to get an idea what the temperature is over here in the states. I know this doesn't have much to do with sport...well that could depend on your perspective I guess...but it's an interesting look at our obsession with violence to some extent. Plus I just watched the DVD version of this the other night and was again impressed with how great a film it is.
Of course our ol' buddy GA would probably label Moore, the filmmaker, a "political hitman" of the Al Franken variety. That is of course when he's not confusing him as someone that reports the news. Sorry GA, couldn't resist that one.
Thing is Mick, what I'm trying to get across here is that as you taunt these Americans on the board you should have some idea just exactly how dangerously unstable many of them are...and more than likely well armed. Even Baerwald himself revealed in some of his stories his fondess for playing with guns...leading us to believe he's not quite the pacifist some would like to make him out to be. He did move to Texas after all where I think it's been mandated that you own and carry at least two weapons at all times...or they'll shoot you.
That's why you need to understand that these people might post sentimental gibberish about being on a plane with Marines one minute but the next they are chasing you through the streets shirtless with a Glock 9mm trying to relieve you of your precious bodily fluids. Let me tell you at that point the Eden project and a big bowl of tofu would look pretty good.
Not to worry too much though because of the over 11,000 people that get shot and killed each year in the United States only about 10 are hobbits. So, my invitation still stands, anytime you want to cross the pond I've got a room for you. And I'll lend you a gun while you're here...because you need to protect yourself and your family once you enter the US. Ask any American.
So really what would American football fans do to European football fans? They'd blow them away of course...the difference is we're armed, fanatic, and sentimental...you guys are just fanatic and sentimental.
