Man, I know I'm mostly preaching to the choir here, but this American fascination/love fest/perversion with guns is just insane. 

There is what seems to be this pathological and deep-seated American insecurity issue that creates some sort of neurosis when it comes to these things that appear to make them inseparable from American hands and held fast by some unbelievably irrational fear that simply does not exist as it is in the minds of these diehards. 

I mean, how is it that a child's life and right to live is less than that of a person's right to possess any sort of firearm that could be imagined? 

Or this recent spate of phony "stand your ground" killings - where people are being shot for pulling into the wrong driveway or knocking on a door.  Where will it end?

And then, for a politician to publicly make comments like the one most recent asshole in Texas when his reply was that people are killed in blue states, too (I did not read this new report that just came out about how gun violence is much, much higher in Southern states than elsewhere - that it is not even close!).

What kind of solace is that supposed to be toward the loved one of someone unlawfully killed by a gun?  And why are Americans not apoplectic when politicians make statements like that or simply give up when it comes to American gun violence?

And now, the leading cause of death for young people in the US is - guns.  Guns have outpaced vehicle accidents and is No. 1.
