Essentially we have seen quite clearly that Russia is not a superpower, Putin is not well informed, and the decision making process there is a total disaster. The Russian army is pretty sad and obviously not up to the task. He's demonstrated that outside of their nuclear stockpile, they are a weak country and he is a disaster. Backed into a corner and potentially not healthy, it is scary what he might do.
