Icon Funny you bring up guitar players in rock....

The other day I was reading some short thing from somewhere and the writer pissed me off because he was more or less suggesting those of us that grew up on traditional rock (guitar, bass, drums, singer) need to just shut up and accept that today's rock/pop music is made up of things beyond those.

Now, I don't know how instrument inclined these samplers and assemblage by computer "musicians" are or are not, but it irks me that some "singer" can get up on stage all alone while all music is piped in by computer and even with the microphone altered, too.

Personally, I like having the ability to be able to discern guitar players by sound and playing. From Brian May to Neil Young to The Edge and others.  Not only by guitar but of the sound of the entire band collectively.

I mean, really, can these kids of today hear some of their pop music and immediately be able to say, "Hey, that is..." - sort of how we "traditional" fans can do that with Led Zepplin, Queen or The Beatles.
