In a music sense, what music is going to survive and be held in high reverence in the future?
With changing attitudes, technologies, failures to really appreciate history and the past in the proper context, how is it going to be in say 100 or 1000 years?
I don't know about others, but over the past few years, I have been searching for all kinds of compilation albums from record companies and the like and mostly of new music. In this searching, I have come across several that consisted of overly produced, assembled, and manufactured music that was just horrible to listen to. It actually was physically irritating. But this is the sort of stuff that is being pushed today instead of what Reg mentions about the impact of real music on the ears and soul.
And this is what concerns me - that this music created by someone sitting down at a computer and with microphones that hugely alter the human voice will rule the day in the future.
Still, I think the future of sound is going to be amazing because I really do think that in the future there is going to be a way to stimulate the brain in ways we almost can't think of and quite simply, too.
