I don't disagree with any of what you said, Reg. I'm inclined to believe in the darker side of your predictions. I do not see this getting better — not until enough of the Republican base dies either due to old age or the coronavirus or some other infectious disease that's just beyond the horizon. Perhaps that's the silver lining in this pandemic, at least for the U.S. — that with electoral margins as thin as they are in places, neither side can afford to lose any of its base and this appears to be hitting red states much harder than blue states. I hate that I'm even thinking like this but it's where I am.
