It's been just about a decade that New England's premier singer-songwriter, Bill Morrissey, left the stage. He was in ill health, having battled alcohol for decades. I remember, not too long before his death, he was playing a rural New Hampshire folk club, with a cataract that he couldn't pay to have operated on, continuing to tell stories of small town New England with an eye for details that would please Raymond Carver. 

If you're looking for a new find over this summer, his "essential collection" album is a great place to begin.

I'm not much of a folk music guy, but I always make time for Bill.
