it seems like there are a bunch of untold conflicting stories and who knows if the truth will ever fully make it out. 

It's almost like Springsteen's PR people are heavily involved and possibly even releasing tiny bits of information to make him look good, while the police are doing the same. 

The .02 is really bizarre when it comes to the description of his behavior, especially with the time between the test and shot taking has not been released.  I would be curious to find out exactly the time of the test.

On top of this, it will be interesting to know if there is any video (quite often police use their in-car cameras to document the field sobriety tests).

At the end of the day, I wouldn't be surprised if Springsteen also was on prescription drugs for his mental health (which he has openly discussed).

Though, I don't think it helps that now Alec Baldwin is stepping in on Springsteen's behalf and surmising politics is involved (though, it may be).
