If the sound is mixed for 5.1 then the main vocals are those that suffers most from a regular TV-setup. At minimum one should use a soundbar+sub-woofer but of course a proper surround setup is the optimal solution. The center should be good. These days even a Dolby atmos setup is doable at less than 1000 $ :-)
