Okay, for something a little different.......how about we tell on ourselves and tell a humorous story involving our lives...
When I was in high school I had to ride the public school bus back and forth to school.
This was a great opportunity for hijinks and pranks. We especially went nuts when a
substitute bus driver drove the bus. So one time I was acting up and the substitute bus
driver told me to move to the front of the bus so he could keep an eye on me. I refused
and we got in a back and forth dispute. Finally, he asked me what my name was and
being the smart ass that I was back then, I decided to give an obvious fake name. Back
then, I was a huge Los Angeles Dodger Steve Garvey fan, but decided that maybe the bus
driver wouldn't catch it was a fake name if I told him "Steve Garvey," so I decided to give
him the most recognizable name I could think of and said "Pete Rose." After I said my
name was "Pete Rose," he said, "Okay Mr. Rose, get up here to the front of the bus,
NOW."Of course, all the other kids were rolling in their seats, but the driver didn't catch on. So I
get off the bus thinking I pulled a fast one, not knowing some kid told him my real name,
and was shocked when at school the next day I was summoned to the principal's office
and was promptly kicked off the bus for four or five days.A couple of years later I was told that all of the other bus drivers never let that substitute
bus driver live it down that he fell for this joke. Other drivers would say to him, "Hey,
Charlie, have you seen 'Pete Rose' today? If you do, can you get his autograph for me?" I
guess he really hated my guts.On a side note, one year for Christmas my family got me a Pete Rose card as a joke.Okay, some of you others out there.....share.......
