I heard from colleagues in the Netherlands about it the next morning. It was an embarrassment. Then again, I had to remind them about Geert Wilders and the fact that they've certainly got their own version of a firebrand. As it played out, and I tried to tell my now-voting-age son that this was NOT a normal debate, I wondered if it may have been a deliberate strategy from Trump. Did he want to be seen as being the tougher character? The guy who won't let anything go? May not matter because I think it could backfire on him. People I know to be Republican or at least not-reliably-Democrat were appalled.
