Progressives are upset over the little time Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was given at the DNC convention. Especially when Biden's campaign was able to enlist a good number of Republicans to endorse him. Personally, I love this woman and expect huge things from her future. But there is also another story here about this media/pundit fueled spat and after thinking about it more and more it is some stuff that is not being discussed.
The first is, "what message is Biden trying to send by seemingly being seen to push away Progressives." First, he's not pushing them away. I think he is hedging his bets. That as of yet, young voters need to step up and show their willingness to vote and engage. Throwing tantrums and screaming loud does not win, nor does it really enact change. So I think Biden is not only saying, "Trump is so bad that all of these REPUBLICANS agree with me," but he is also reaching out to a RELIABLE voting bloc of people.
Biden knows this group of disaffected Republicans ("Reagan Democrats") vote, as well as older Americans.
And this is where I think Kamala Harris really comes in. She is the one to rally these young people and Progressives (even though they attack her for her law enforcement background).
So someone needs to get out and tell these young people that it is easy to scream, throw tantrums and tear shit up, but if they want a seat at the adult table then they need to step up their game.
