Specifically a guy that used to hang out here named Kent Bentowski. Really, what is in the Frontline special on the nut job that is Alex Jones all played out here live.
Yes, the truth was I had no idea who Alex Jones was nor did I know guys like David Icke. Honestly, those lunatics were not in my field of vision. The funny aspect of it here was we had the three amigos here, our small Republican contingent and as Kent would push guys like Jones and Icke into the conversations here these guys would make fun of Kent for promoting such wild hogwash. I think it used to really aggravate our old pal Dale, who was absolutely correct when he would call Kent out on the nonsense he posted.
Kent passed away some time back so he, thankfully for him I guess, did not get to see his hero Alex Jones become so embraced by the right wing in this country that the president of the United States would promote him, appear on his show, and call himself a big fan of Mr. Jones.
Kent used to email me and send out books to people that visited here that he liked, I being one of those folks. He wanted our takes on Jones and Icke and the things they were writing and saying. This was how I found out about these people and I ended up having conversations with David's sister Andrea about the books Kent was sending us. She did not much want to tell Kent what she thought, that this stuff all sounded insane, and she sent me a couple books Kent sent her after I had told Kent to stop sending me stuff. The last books I received were a couple of bat shit nutty screeds on 9/11 loaded with nonsensical asides to all kinds of other crazy shit.
I did provide Kent with my opinions on Jones and Icke which were basically that Jones was a carnival barker and Icke seemed severely mentally ill. He did not much like being told that but I asked "Do you want me to lie to you?"
This all came full circle when during a discussion with Pat Brown and Marc, I pointed out how crazy it seemed to me that they used to mock Kent for his Alex Jones nonsense and now Alex Jones was officially endorsed by Donald Trump and I asked them what they thought about that. The answer was a shocking and somewhat hilarious "Well, Jones is often right." and I just thought, Kent should have lived to see this.
I don't know what's up with Dale, hopefully he's doing alright, but somehow I sincerely doubt that he thinks Alex Jones is right about anything and my guess would be that he would be embarrassed by Trump's association with him and probably scum like Roger Stone...who even Pat Brown openly admitted to me here was a "bad guy."
