When I watch this many thoughts race through my mind: Do these gents believe this? Does their audience? How do they rationalize it when the virus isn't vanquished? How scripted is this? Does Kenneth tell his sidekick to simply repeat what I said and just throw in the occasional amen or hallelujah? I was brought up as a Roman Catholic, but thankfully escaped its clutches decades ago, so I can't relate to this level of insanity. And I'm coming from a group that literally believed a wafer turned into the body of Jesus, not symbolically, literally! And this craziness is playing out all over the world, which I guess, given such an unprecedented state of global anxiety, it's expected. In Pakistan, some clerics demand the lifting of restrictions on gatherings. In Israel, the ultra-Orthodox feel similarly. In India, Hindu nationalists believe it's a Muslim plot and have taken to drinking cow's urine to ward off the virus. And in an exquisite act of poetic justice, a Virginia pastor who continued to preach to a packed church, was killed by the virus. Suddenly, the Pentecostal snake handlers are looking tame in comparison.
