I dunno - I think Trump really wanted to go against Bernie all along. The "socialist" tag is red meat to his base and some independents. It would've been an anchor around Bernie's neck that would've weighed down his candidacy - even though we're going to be fully utilizing our collective democratic socialism to help keep afloat businesses while the COVID-19 pandemic plays out (with $1.5 trillion from the fed being used to prop up financial institutions yesterday) but Trump's base won't be able to make the connection.
I'm not sure how effective the Burisma saga will be with those of outside of Trump's base. I think most of us see it for what it is- a distraction. Hopefully, independents do as well. It's more likely that this administration will have its hands full with the calamity that's looming over us in the form of the coronavirus. There's going to be little else that's talked about for the next few months. Whoever the Dems choose, they'll have no lack of examples of incompetency to draw from to make their case to give fuckhead the boot.
And speaking of COVID-19: what are the chances that the imbecile in the Oval Office doesn't already have it? I say they're very low after seeing photos of him with the Brazilian official who recently tested positive for it. Thoughts and prayers!
