My embrace of movie going was closely tied to my viewing the Scorsese/DeNiro collaborations. I therefore had to see The Irishman at the local movie theatre.
It's not showy in the way Goodfellas was, but it does ring more true I think with respect to how most of these thugs wind up. There's no glamor evident in the 3 1/2 hours. My attention never waned, the de-aging effects worked just fine, and the performances were uniformly terrific.
