Call me a dreamer, but what if an assemblage of generally respected GOP elders, along with a current GOP senator or two (hello Susan Collins and Mitt Romney) gathered on the steps of the Capitol and presented a unified message of what is going on and the incredible dangers this poses to our democracy and our way of life. Wouldn't Colin Powell, Alan Simpson, George Schultz, GW Bush, Robert Gates, Brent Scowcroft, Condi Rice, John Kasich, Jeff Flake, et. al. have some influence on Trump's base? Perhaps they wouldn't but hell, what's keeping them from trying?
