I have not followed all that too closely but the Democrats kill their own so they will run a guy out of town (Al Franken) at the first hint of any kind of bad behavior...especially now. They do not care about or think about what it will cost them or seats they lose or any of that. They want to appear to have taken the high ground.

So, I don't know if that guy wore blackface or not. First he apologized supposedly before he saw the photo, then he had a press conference supposedly after he looked at the photo and said it wasn't him, I have no idea now if he says it is him or if it is not him. Democrats seem not to give a shit they just want him to get lost.

If it is him and he lied in his press conference saying it was not him he is totally cooked. The Democrats were going to crucify him either way so if he was caught in a lie they will really massacre him.

The Republican take on this is a totally different deal. They support the Trump method of lying and avoiding until somebody forces your hand so you have no choice but to pay the price.

They look at it as math. Hold the seat as long as you can even if your fellow Republican kills and eats children on a daily basis. Does not matter what they did, who they raped, who they molested, how racist they are...deny and support, deny and support, deny and support, feign ignorance and support.

Lie, lie some more, lie even more, say you never told those lies even though they have you on video telling those lies...switch to they took what you said out of context and you never said it anyway.

The president will support any lie any Republican wants to tell, because he tells more than anybody, and all the morons will chant "Fake news!"

So, why would Republicans admit to anything? Their base does not hold them accountable for anything and they don't care.

They supported child molesting Roy Moore. The Republicans support racists because the racist voters are swing voters for them. The KKK, Aryan Nation, all those nuts are Republican voters...and to hold seats they need every single vote because these elections can be very, very close.

So, due to the math the Republicans know they MUST embrace racist scum and say "They are good people too."

They make up an important chunk of their base. They can't afford to lose those racist voters.

This does bother some Republicans...others really don't care they will embrace racists because that's what it takes to win.

It's math. They get that.
