That line is from the song, "Hail Hail Rock and Roll" which I offer up below. Garland is a lot like NYC, he's a bit African, Puerto Rican, Native American, and who knows what else. He really has an interesting perspective and has written a lot about race in America. His early 90s album, "Don't Call Me Buckwheat", takes a hard look at his and our nation's experiences with race. This is a killer song from that disc:

Interesting facts: he also went to Syracuse University with his long-time friend, Lou Reed, hung out a bit with Springsteen, Joe Strummer, and DeNiro too. Knows everyone in that world! He's also a world-class name dropper, but I still dig him!
