In our area, it looks like we had five deaths last week from the addition of fentanyl to both heroin and cocaine.

We are having so many overdoses in this area, that about a year and half ago, we had created a new protocol for the handling of heroin overdoses where it went from a focus on the crimnal aspect, to the focus of the health of the user. Then, because we were having so many overdoses, the protocal focus (which mainly included the response of special investigators and more attention to the overdose incident) again changed where it takes about a death of the person before the additional personnel get involved.

Our local media, up until last week and the five deaths, had sort of been silent on the overdoses, but those caused more attention.

My own view of this is that I think this issue is based in what is dramatically wrong with this country to the core - and that is as a country, our quality of life issues are in the toilet. In other words, Americans do not know what a quality of life is or the importance of identifying that journey.

Our country is more interested in selling and buying shit, which leads to the development of a superficial, meaningless society with the failings based in not possesing a rich society with strong personal foundations.

And that includes things like good, meaningful jobs, community ties, family and so on.

I mean, the woman at the end of that documentary talking about geetting rid of her pain said about all to me.
