"The movie was derided in 1968 as pretentious and faux-solemn...." Gee, I'd say the review itself would be found guilty of such a charge. Can't movie reviewers find some middle-ground between "two thumbs up" and what this critic wrote? As to the movie, Reg, I must have seen it 15-20 years ago and only remember it as a showcase for Burt Lancaster's pecs! Still, I wouldn't mind seeing it again.Peter T.
