That's what the Pixar films do for me, and I know they have their critics as well. The thing I really like about Pixar is that they manage to put together a really good script (IMO) and then layer the technology in on top of the story. Not having seen Avatar, and probably won't until it hits video or cable, my guess is that Cameron stretched his story around the technology.

This has become all too common in Hollywood, and really good stories are hard to find from the major studios. Even though I'm a cheerleader for Pixar, Disney in general is one of the big perpetrators of this. Their recent purchase of Marvel proves it--if you can't come up with a good story, pick one out of a comic book.

Changing topic somewhat, I saw Sherlock Holmes last night. The depiction of Victorian London was incredible, the acting was great, the story was fun, the action was great and over the top. Taken as a whole, however, I can't give it much more than a B-, as it didn't all fit together that well. I've got an appreciation for Guy Ritchie, but I think this was a case of the wrong director for the subject matter.
