I gotta go with you on this one Bear. I walk into work this morning and all anyone can talk about is this stupid fucking show and how mad they are that their favorite little git didn't win. A group of over 100 people with undergrad or higher degrees, and they're smitten with a stupid effing popularity contest between a bunch of nitwits whose biggest aspiration is to sing someone else's music.

I point to American Idol (and most other shows of its ilk) as a symptom of what's really wrong with America these days.

And if it were really truly a "talent show", would we know or care who the frigging judges are? Would the results make the front page of the newspaper or the main section of every online news feed? It's a god-damned travesty that people give a greater shit about which idiot sang/looked better than how the economy is going to get fixed or which mid-Eastern country is ready to beat the crap out of their neighbors.

I woke up to NPR this morning and they were even talking about this stupid show, which may explain the exceptionally foul mood I've been in today.
