The Latin American government thing is so tricky, though. For example, it may have seemed easy to criticize the US government for supporting an insurrection against the Sandinistas in Nicaragua. But now that Daniel Ortega has power, he's both cheated and messed up things far beyond what any of the 1990's US "stooges" did. In small part, it vindicates what may have seemed like an irrational fear of Ortega in the 80's.(Of course, one could also argue that oppostion to the US is how Ortega derives his power. Take that away, and you are left with a corrupt leftist with fascist tendencies who might not look so good.)
