Yahoo already has what they are calling a "sponsored" search engine, which I suspect means you directed to them what hath tossed the most coin at yahoo.

You are right though. I suspect if it gets as bad as this article states, someone will step up and offer the better alternative. If not, I suspect a whole lot of people will just "sign off".
