"What will the Internet look like in Canada in 2010? I suspect that the ISP's will provide a "package" program as companies like Cogeco currently do."Nowhere does the author cite why he suspects this. This fearmongering story comes and goes every couple of years. There's no logical way that the author's fears can come to pass, as ISPs that throttle or control access will not succeed, ISPs that keep access on an open basis will. It's that simple. The internet is different than cable programming because on the internet, the vast majority of content providers don't charge for their content, as is the case with cable television. Those content providers that do are aboveboard about it (for the most part), which is why they're called "subscription sites".Malarkey, in my opinion. A big steaming pile of it.
