"I don't honestly have a horse in this race. If I had to pull the lever tonight it would be for Huckabee...I don't even know if I spelled his name correctly." -KevinYou are not alone. I think most voters right now don't have a horse in this race. I think the years of Clinton, Bush, and dividing this nation have taken a heavy toll on voters. It's been a lot of bad news and bad blood. That's why a guy like Huckabee is rising right now, he's not one of the megacandidates and I think if he wins in Iowa that is a message from the people. I don't think the Republican brass want him to win, Romney is their guy. Giuliani is a loose cannon and I think they plan on being rid of him soon.
"I watched him once on LK and thought he was very well spoken but then I'm not frightened by his Christian faith as others may be." -KevinHuckabee does not frighten me but I also don't think he can beat any of the Democrats in the general election and I would say the Republicans are well aware of that."I saw a post where db referred to the list of republican candidates as less than good but do any of you feel that the dems have much more to offer?I'd have to say that this is the most pathetic collection of candidates we've had to choose from in quite a while." -Kevin
Well, I think Edwards has something to offer but I know what you are saying. You are correct in this election people in general think these candidates suck. They don't like them and they are sick of politics and politicians. I was reading the comments of a Republican strategist though and he was saying that this is where they wanted to take the process because they "want fewer people to vote because it provides more control over the election results." I think the Democrats feel the same way to a great extent. The idea is to get people to stay home and only have a select few vote. More than anything they want you to sit home and think your vote does not count. It makes perfect sense and it is working big time! I wish I had a buck for every time I heard somebody say their vote does not matter anyway.
"This was Hillary's race to lose and she's making a valiant attempt at doing just that. I do believe in divided government and you guys should be doing better than you are to bring us some balance." -Kevin
I disagree with that, I don't think it is Hillary's race to lose. I think she is the media darling and the name that sells more than any other. She energizes Republicans, women, and some Democrats. She is a destructive force but she is a brand name and we like that in this country. I don't think the voters like her though and I think they are going to prove that in Iowa and New Hampshire. Of course I hope they prove it by voting for Edwards but who knows. My guess is Hillary finishes third in Iowa and third in New Hampshire...even a prisoner can dream.
