I think you are right, Peter. Here in Texas, there are a lot of home school kids. I've seen a few who have done really well, but in their case the mother is usually an excellent teacher and one who really dedicates time to getting materials, etc. Those who do it simply to remove their children from the "evils" of society are merely retarding their childrens' ability to deal with it.

As it has always been, the kids who go to public or private schools and have strong support at home, enough rest, and good eating habits do fine.
