So, my husband, a member of IATSE, is a victim of the stagehand
strike. He is not a member of Local One - and both the producers and his own union have decided to eliminate what's called "the pink contract" which allows members of other locals to work on Broadway. It's a fun Thanksgiving week around here. And, of course, the Writers Guild strike goes on.
Despite all that, I'm with Labor - I've been a producer for 25+ years and even though there are archaic rules and costs, it's not the number of stagehands on a load-in that has any real determination of whether a show can run or not.
What's amazing to me is the amount of vitriol from people about Labor taking a stand. It sure is the Republican trickle-down effect.
