Unfortunately, no. I suppose he’s a 21st century teen, never looking in his rearview
mirror: he typed it up in school, tossing copies out as he revised, copies that he brought
home to show us and discuss, etc. Then this morning, after a mumble of something like,
“Done…& done,” apparently he tossed out this year’s speech in the band room trashcan
directly after the assembly. Disposable youth. I guess I can’t blame him, I don’t carry
photos in my wallet either; keep em much closer than that. Anyway, “courage” was the
central theme, and a rally to come together as a nation of people born to blessings, and
the potential to ascend above mediocrity. But mostly courage to face one’s fears: the
heart and courage of the troops who face danger for sake of a greater ideal, and a cry
to the citizenry and leadership to actually live up to the very ideals that have been waved
in our faces as reasons for our young to go and die in foreign wars. Something to that
extent anyway, Andrea ~ kind lady, but this ain’t my best communiqué. It’s been dark
since 5:00, I feel like it’s midnight already…and tired like it’s 2 AM for some reason,
could be a virus creeping in, …hope not, the pub we stopped in (while the boys are
at basketball practice) didn’t serve Guinness.
Peace and perseverance, all of us herein.
Sammy Hagar iz sixty today…
