Thanks for stating what all of us are surely thinking , but hoping is not the case, here in Amerika. You were able to disect the music biz in a way that makes you spiritual heir to Frank Zappa. BRAVO.

In my earlier post, I proposed that WE start and maintain David's street support. I realize that we all have responsibilities; some more than others, but we all know people, we all love David's music and we can make a difference.

It's been made harder with the elimination of several  indy, music-focused music retailers in the last 2-4 years. My former employer is one of them. It was in such places that music was cherished, nurtured, discussed, argued about and became the nourishment of the soul.

I don't think that we could even get in the door at a Virgin megastore, a Media Play ,etc; they being BIGRETAIL, INC, often owned by BIGENTERTAINMENT, INC - helping most folks just sleep better.

BUT, there are still small, independent, music stores,  and clubs that still book indy artists;  here in Columbus there is a club called Little Brothers-heir of Stash and Little Brothers- that has booked several No Depression style acts. The loose aggregate that I belong to has performed at several Christmas Trash-Fests;  proceeds going to the Columbus Homeless Shelter. IF we were able to create a sanctioned street-team, it would then be our responsibility to ensure that the area was READY when the artist came into town. It does require a certain amount of leg-work and schmoozing, but it can make a difference.

If we don't try then we have no-one but ourselves to blame.

This is an excellent line of discussion.
