I don't know as much about the "Modfather" as you do, Peter, and actually my introduction to Weller was Stanley Road. It was given to me by a friend that liked Weller's earlier work with The Jam, I think, but pretty much lost interest in him after that. I remember when he gave it to me he said something like "Here, you can have this it's your kind of music." which I took to mean 70s rock sounding. I loved it because it did remind me of Traffic and Joe Cocker. I've never followed Weller really but every so often over the years he's popped up here and there for me with songs I've liked but I just have yet to take the time to go out and discover more of his work. I only have Heavy Soul and Stanley Road but I have almost picked up Wild Wood on several occasions. Now I can't find it in the stores (I still buy most of my music from Newbury Comics) so I'll have to order it off the net. It seems the local stores don't stock much Weller. Gives me the feeling he's not real popular in the US.
