Every year, we attend July 4th festivities in my hometown in Massachusetts. I usually don't recognize anyone as I've been out of high school for almost 30 years. The other night I noticed a guy who I played basketball with in high school. We shared a passion for the Ramones, and later The Clash,  and we were undoubtedly among the few in our school who connected with this music. Jay was honing his bass skills in his bedroom, and I would fail miserably at keeping the beat on drums. After high school we lost touch, and I always wondered if music still meant to him what it has always meant to me. Well, I was heartened to discover that he's been at it all these years, though it has not been his means of employment. It's nice to know that you can hold onto your music dreams and still raise a family and pay the mortgage. His band, The Time Beings, has just released their first CD. Check out the song "Where I Come From", on their myspace page. I'd be pleased to pass on any comments to Jay.
