I think Gore has the capacity to be an FDR-quality leader, and I think that's
about the level of leadership we're gonna need if our civilisation's going to survive the next 50 years. FDR was a blueblood all the way, but he never forgot the simple dictum that, like a strong pyramid, a strong economy is built on a wide base... And that base in our situation is the working and middle classes. Our continuing process of sucking our middle classes dry, ruthlessly exploiting the working class, offsourcing our national industries and fabulously enriching the richest 1% will be the death of this country. It may well already be a mortal wound that simply hasn't killed us yet.
