I am done in this thread and you are probably correct I should have never started it.

It's true...my own postings depress the crap out of me. I could not help myself I guess because Pat's disconnection with what's happening in the world added to a sense of sadness I had about things. I guess I was pushing Pat to apply Ockham's razor but I now apply it myself and take this situation for what it is.

I don't think this site is done though...no matter how much my ramblings attempt to murder it. I like the people here and I like coming here to see what they have to say about whatever. After having so many conversations with so many people here, it's hard for me not to consider them all friends...differing views on politics and reality or not. Good God, according to Dan a lot of us started posting here in the late 90's. We've all known eachother a while now and if the circumstances permit I'd meet anybody that wants to at the bar.

As far as music goes, well, I have been listening a lot to Brad Mehldau's collaborations with Pat Metheny. Mostly the second and most recent one because it features his trio on all of the cuts as opposed to just the two on the first one. I've never really followed Metheny so I can't say too much about his playing, on these records he and Mehldau play off one another like they'd been doing it for years which is pretty cool. I don't know if you know this but Mehldau's trio took on a new drummer a little while back when Rossy left the group. I saw the new trio live and there was no doubt that Jeff Ballard is a monster behind his kit. On their first record as a trio "Day is Done" Ballard seemed like a technical wiz for sure but I sort of had to adapt to his style. Where Rossy seemed to just flow and groove with the group, Ballard seemed like his own entity and much more busy in his playing. On this new record Ballard really shines and you really get a sense that Mehldau's trio is really going to be a mindblowing group with Ballard back there.

Other than that I've been listening to a lot of older stuff from Levon Helm and the Band...some old Joe Walsh and James Gang records...a new record by JJ Grey and Mofro, which is just kinda fun bluesy stuff...I really like a song called Girl in the War by Josh Ritter and I have his ep doing it solo acoustic which is the version I really dig...the last Gomez record had some good stuff on it and I love the track See the World as well as How We Operate...I always love loading the player up with old blues Bobby Bland, BB King, Howlin Wolf, Muddy Waters, Ray Charles, etc etc etc...

Ahh, someone sent me a recording of me from last winter doing a song I wrote for a wedding I was at...I've toyed with the idea of sending that to Dan to post here but have yet to get up the courage...there's a bit of music stuff...
